# Global Information

## Overview

**Global information** relates to information that can be used by all processes:

* [**Participants**](https://docs.advantys.com/workflowgen-administration-module-reference-guide/global-information/participants) represent how the company has organized the management and execution of processes.
* [**Applications**](https://docs.advantys.com/workflowgen-administration-module-reference-guide/global-information/applications) are the definitions of workflow apps called by WorkflowGen to execute human or system actions.
* [**Categories**](https://docs.advantys.com/workflowgen-administration-module-reference-guide/global-information/categories) are keywords associated with processes for search and sort purposes in the User Portal only.
* [**Global lists**](https://docs.advantys.com/workflowgen-administration-module-reference-guide/global-information/global-lists) allow authorized users to manage data lists to be used with web forms.

Global information can only be managed by users with a WorkflowGen Administrator profile.
